The Griffins just hold on from Rutherford Racing with an hour to go

The Griffins still hold the lead of the Bedford Autodrome Schools' Grand Prix, but Rutherford Racing appear to hold the overall advantage, having passed their classmates with ease on the track before pitting to change batteries.
As the hour started, The BUS Drivers briefly held first place after stops from the Rutherford teams, but as the hour progressed The Griffins resumed their place at the head of the table. Reigning champions Rutherford Racing slotted back into second, albeit a lap down as the pair put some distance between themselves and the erstwhile leaders.
Meanwhile More Car Racing continued a steady run in fourth, lapping at a comparable pace to the car ahead. Although neither they nor The BUS Drivers were able to match Rutherford's blistering speed, consistency and speedy pit work was helping the latter keep the Rutherford teams honest.
The Sparks car had more woes, with a trip into the gravel forcing them to return to the pitlane on the back of the recovery truck for quick repairs. However they still lie ahead of Team Alice and High Voltage, with 7 laps separating the three of them.
Midway through the hour Griffin took the decision to remove the rear of the car's bodywork to save weight but it wasn't enough to halt Rutherford Racing's progress, as they fought their way back onto the lead lap.
Chasing down the similar car of The Griffins, Rutherford Racing passed to take the lead on lap 95, three-quarters of the way through the hour. However they elected to make a pitstop in the dying seconds and gave the lead back to The Griffins. Taking inspiration from them, Rutherford Racing also removed their rear bodywork.
